Launstein's Hardwood Texturing Options
Wire brushing –
Adding texture with an actual wire brush, this method removes all of the soft wood grain from the top layer of the planks surface. This highlights the beauty of the grain pattern. This is often called the European look. Two main benefits to Wire Brushing your floors are it hides blemishes and reduces the amount of maintenance your floor needs. |
French Bleed-
A French Bleed is another way of distressing a floor to give the appearance of age. This method adds darker hues to the planks giving an antiqued look that highlights the edges and grain patterns. The result is a floor with character, giving each plank has a story to tell. Two Benefits to this type of finish are the contrast on each board gives your hardwood floor depth and accentuates the width of plank. |
Hand Scraping-
Before Sanders were invented one popular way of finishing a floors was to hand scrape each plank to remove rough edges and provide a more level board. This labor intensive technique adds a level of rustic charm to each floor it is used on. The Boards have more character than something purchased at a big box store. One of the Main Benefits to a Hand Scraped Floor is maintenance. Because of its rough finish, a hand scraped floor will hide an additional dents or scratches that may occur on the floor; most of the time these occurrences will only add to the already immeasurable charm of the floor. |

Launstein can give a soft whitening to your floor or make it as light as that particular species is able to be. Fumed- Fuming Hardwood Floors is a way to naturally darken the color of each plank without staining it. Fuming is usually done be introducing ammonia to the air around the board, the color change is a result of a chemical reaction the plank has with the air.
