The design process is easy, and our Wood Flooring experts will consult with you every step of the way; to ensure your new floor has the exact look, feel and function you dreamed it would.

How Launstein helps you Design the Perfect Hardwood Floor for your Home

The First Step is to Stop In or Call Launstein Floors, even if you live out of State or in Another Country we can help craft the Floor you want and ship it to you!

Next Tell us what function the floor will serve, it seems like a silly question for us to ask but think about it. Is this floor going to be in a high traffic area? Do you want to install Radiant Heat under your new floor? What type of Climate do you live in? There is a lot to think about, which is why we will walk you through all of the best solutions to ensure this new floor is exactly what you want and has all of the characteristics needed to guarantee a long life in your home.

Choose Which Species of Hardwood you want for Your New Floor

After we have discussed the type of floor you need, the next step is to Choose the Species of wood you want your new floor to be made from. Here at Launstein we have a wide variety of Hardwoods available to choose from:
  • Cherry
  • Red Oak
  • Hickory
  • Maple
  • White Oak
  • Walnut
  • Ash
Choose the Cut You want for Your Custom Floor
Picture
Quartersawn- This cut has a less distinct grain patter but is arguably the strongest cut for floors. It resists cupping and ages evenly.

Plainsawn- Has a vary distinct grain pattern that resembles a cathedral. This is the most popular cut mills use.

Livesawn - This method is the easiest and oldest method for milling lumber. The cuts are straight across the log and are parallel to the previous cut. This method produces the look of quartersawn and plainsawn, giving each board a distinctive look and feel.

Now Choose what Dimensions you want the Planks to Be
Launstein Floors offers 5/8" to 3/4" thick options, and planks up to 8" wide. Its up to you how we mill your floor. Do you want the Classic Wide Plank Flooring Look, or maybe something a little more contemporary looking?
Engineered or Solid Planks?
Both have their advantages. Engineered Hardwood Floors are great for durability, and are more resistant to moisture. While Solid Hardwood Floors are 100% natural and give you the ability to sand and refinish multiple times. Both choices at Launstein Floors work well over Radiant Heat if maintained properly.
Final Touches, Make your New Floor Completely Your Design!
